The Niagara Poverty Reduction Network recognizes our unique role in community and government advocacy. Our network members, in particular our Government Relations & Advocacy priority table, aims to improve policy and system level changes that directly improve the quality of life of people in Niagara.
Affordable Housing
Safe, affordable, decent housing can be out of reach for individuals and families living on a low income. The Affordable Housing Priority Table is working to identify key issues related to access and availability of affordable housing in Niagara, and advocate for improvements across the housing continuum.
Health Equity
The Health Equity Priority Table has recently completed work with the Health Equity through Advocacy, Research and Theatre (HEART) Project. Currently the Priority Table is shifting focus towards long-term care and home care for older adults, especially in connection with the recent developments due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Marketing & Communications
The NPRN Marketing & Communications Priority Table helps to promote the work of NPRN across the community, and to educate and advocate about key issues related to poverty. We are currently working on social media campaigns, community events, and engaging individuals with lived experience to help NPRN educate community and advocate for change across Niagara.
Social Assistance
The Social Assistance Priority Table is focused on ongoing changes occurring within the Ontario Works (OW) and the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP), as well as other government income / financial programs, and developing strategies to advocate for better solutions in the development and administration of these programs.

Do you want to keep up to date about poverty-related issues within Niagara? Ever wondered what initiatives are being undertaken to address root causes of poverty in your community? The Niagara Poverty Reduction Network (NPRN) can come and speak to you!
One of the goals of the NPRN is to raise awareness about poverty in Niagara. The NPRN has created a toolkit that includes fact sheets about NPRN and poverty in Niagara. We offer presentations on poverty in Niagara to the community that are appropriate for faith groups, businesses or students.
Our Speakers Bureau team can present information to your group, clients or staff and answer any questions you may have about poverty within Niagara.
